Diamond Announces Grant for Railway Improvements

HARRISBURG – A $1 million grant awarded today to Allen Distribution will help to build three rail sidings serving a distribution center in Jackson Township, according to Rep. Russ Diamond (R-Lebanon).
The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved the company for Multimodal Transportation Fund grant funding for railroad track serving a 625,000-square-foot warehouse at 655 King St. Allen Distribution intends to link the Myerstown facility with its distribution network in Carlisle, Mechanicsburg, Allentown and Scranton.
“Rail commerce has a storied history in this country,” Diamond said. “Interconnectivity of the rail system within Lebanon County and across Pennsylvania allows goods to be moved in an efficient, safe manner while lessening the congestion on our highways.”
The Multimodal Transportation Fund seeks to encourage economic development and provide a reliable system of transportation within Pennsylvania. Funds may be used for transportation assets, streetscapes, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
