Lebanon County Farmland Preserved for Future Generations, Diamond Says

April 11, 2025

HARRISBURG – A Bethel Township poultry farm has been accepted into the state’s farmland preservation program, ensuring it remains an agricultural property in perpetuity, according to Rep. Russ Diamond (R-Lebanon).

Kevin and Lauren Snader submitted their 153-acre farm for a conservation easement approved this week by the Pennsylvania Agriculture Land Preservation Board.

“I commend the Snaders for taking this step to protect the land, so our children and grandchildren can grow up seeing how Pennsylvania’s farms feed the nation. The Snaders are thinking about the future at a time when they, like all poultry farmers, are facing unprecedented challenges and uncertainties related to avian influenza,” Diamond said.

The Snaders’ farm was one of 29 farms preserved this week across Pennsylvania. Established in the late 1980s, the preservation program uses easements to prohibit commercial or residential development on prime farmland.
